I'm just checking with the warsies to see if this is supported at all in the EU, because it seems like a perfectly logical explanation for lightsaber colors (not counting the oddity colors, but even they are explained through this)The color comes from the crystal in it. Ok, but what do they MEAN? Kotor divides them into 4 categories; Jedi Guardians, Jedi somethingorothers, Jedi Sentinels, and Dark Jedi. Guardians (who focus on physical force powers and lightsaber battling) use blue lightsabers. Somethingorothers (forgot their name, who focus on mental powers of the force) use yellow lightsabers, and Jedi Sentinels (who try to find a balance between the two) use Green lightsabers.

Dark Jedi, of course, use red.But is there any support for this in the EU? It seems to make sense with the movies anyway, Obi-Wan was basically a soldier, Anakin was a soldier, Qui-Gon was always more relaxed with his green saber, Yoda is a good balance using Green, and RotJ Luke was beginning to balance out his force powers. Nothing that I can point out.Corran Horn: Rogue Squadron pilot and Jedi Knight. Uses a silvery-green sabre.Jaina Solo: Rogue Squadron pilot and Jedi Knight.

Uses a violet sabre.Jacen Solo: Jedi Knight. Uses a green sabre.Lowbacca: Jedi Knight. Uses a bronze/orange-gold sabre.Tenel Ka: Jedi Knight. Uses a turquoise sabre.Kyp Durron: Jedi Master. Uses a purple sabre.Apparently, the EU has never really followed the line of thought that sabre colors indicate anything significant.

Jan 10, 2005  In KOTOR 2, your first lightsaber must be built, using components which are found in your travels. Once you have all of the parts, one of your party members will help you craft your 'saber.

Well, other than that red sabres are usually bad, but Leia used a red sabre during the Corellian Crisis for a while. Click to expand.yeah, yeah, you can put different crystals into lightsabers to change the color. The 'oddity' colors (anything other than Blue, Yellow, Green, and Red) just come from putting in different crystals. The colors in Kotor aren't locked or anything, just general guidelines. There's nothing stopping you from being a Guardian and using a yellow lightsaber.

Especially later on, after the fall of the Republic, i'd imagine it's not really a big deal. Luke's new Jedi Order may not follow ALL of the old ways. Lightsaber color may not be a big deal to him.I thought there might be some kind of precedent for this, because the game does acknowledge the EU a few time, by mentioning the war with Exar Kun and such. Tionne uses a silver blade, and I know I've heard of a white blade in the EU. Tahiri uses an ice blue blade, which I'm sure looks much better than plain old blue (hey, it's my opinion). The lightsabers in the films, minus Mace Windu's, does seem to fit with the EU concept of mass produced lightsabers. The Jedi are a diverse group, yet they all use either green or blue lightsabers?

Colors

Not much for diveristy, are they.Leia's lightsabers are oddity's as she's never actually built one (from what I can remember. Some of the more obscure EU books I've only read once). One was an ancient blade given to her by Vima-Da-Boda in Dark Empire. I think it had a crimson blade.

The other was made by Luke, and had a ruby blade.Corran's blade was dual-phase, using two crystals, giving it two colors. The first was silver green, which is the normal 133 centimeter long blade (EU figure, don't know about 'canon' length). The second phase, a 300cm blade, had a coruscating effect to it.Lightsabers in the EU make much more sense to me than the possible 'mass produced' lightsabers of the movies.

Yeah, but in the movies, the Old Republic and the Jedi Council has been established for 10,000 years. They might mass produce their sabers. In the EU, where only Luke is rebuilding the Jedi order on Yavin, I guess people making their own maybe makes more sense? In the prequel movies, Jedi seem to go through lightsabers rather quickly.- Obi-Wan damages his upon landing in Naboo.- Anakin: 'Not again! Master Obi-Wan's going to kill me!' (In the Genosian factory)- Obi-Wan loses his when captured.

Mace Windu's Jedi reinforcements give Obi/Ani replacement sabers.- Anikan gets yet another lightsaber busted up, this time by Tyrannus. Click to expand. It's probably a comprimise between personal taste and practicality.I mean, it's probably a simple matter to get a light sabre to be green or blue; but when you get into other colors, you may have to start doing funky things with the crystal, power settings, lightsabre design, etc.Say you want a pink sabre, but do so requires a massive powersource, ie you have to change the battery every 40 swings versus 1000 swings with a blue. Or you have to use multiple crystal which means a bigger handle and more upkeep on maintaining the crystals. I remember materials from the West End Games RPG saying that sabres were designed in a variety of ways.Firstly the crystals could be natural or synthetic, the purity of a crystal helped to determine how reliable it was. Particular types of crystal influenced the blade colour, and that sabres were made with anything between 1 and 3 crystals.A single crystal sabre would have a fixed blade length, up to 3 where the user could vary the length of the blade as seen in Obi-Wans and Vaders duel, and whether the blade would stay active when the sabre was thrown.

Kotor

Click to expand. No, colors are just there for shits and giggles (your SUPPOSED to use the one of what Jedi 'class' you are, but you can change it. Sadly, I think only Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, and Purple exist in the game. I haven't found any crystals with any colors as of yet, and i'm 40 hours into the game.)You can, however, modify your lightsaber to have different properties by using other crystals. Your hilt can hold 3 crystals, and each one does something alittle different. In fact, even crystal-ish things work. I have a Krayt Dragon Pearl in mine. There's three styles of blades you can have too; normal, short, and double-bladed.

Contents AppearanceThe weapon consists of a blade of pure plasma energy emitted from the metal hilt and suspended in a force containment field. The blade is not actually a line, but a loop that extends about a meter before being arced by the blade containment field to a negatively charged fissure ringing the emitter, where it was channeled back to the power cell by a superconductor, completing the circuit. The field contains the immense heat of the plasma, protecting the wielder, and allows the blade to keep its shape. The hilt is almost always self-fabricated by the wielder to match his or her specific needs, preferences and style. Due to the weightlessness of plasma and the strong gyroscopic effect generated by it, lightsabers require a great deal of strength and dexterity to wield, and are extremely difficult - and dangerous - for the untrained to attempt using. However, in the hands of an expert wielder of the Force, the lightsaber is a weapon to be greatly respected and feared.

To wield a lightsaber is to demonstrate incredible skill and confidence, as well as masterful dexterity and attunement to the Force.TypesThe lightsaber of a or almost always uses a natural force-attuning crystal in their hilts. These crystals are found on planets across the galaxy, most notably on and Dantooine. The natural crystals produce green, blue, cyan, yellow, or violet blades. Jedi typically forge their own lightsabers at the conclusion of their padawan training. The lightsaber of a or sometimes uses an artificially fabricated crystal. This crystal typically produces a red blade, though molecular changes made during fabrication can result in different colors. Upon creating their lightsaber most Sith apprentices are given crystals to use, however some prefer to fabricate their own.

Sith usually receive their lightsaber from other fallen Sith at the conclusion of their acolyte training.Lightsabers come in many forms: single, dual-bladed (sometimes called a 'saberstaff'), short, double-blade emitters, curved-hilted, piked, long-handled, and extra-long-bladed.ClassesClasses that use lightsabers:. Traditionally uses either a single blade or one in each hand. The Lightsaber color of the Knight is, historically, blue. Traditionally uses either a single blade or a double-bladed 'saber. The Lightsaber color of the Consular is, historically, green or yellow.

Consulars have also been known to favor single-bladed lightsabers. Traditionally uses either a single blade or one in each hand. The Lightsaber of the Warrior is usually red, reflecting their synthetically created lightsaber crystals. Traditionally uses either a single blade or a double-bladed 'saber. The Lightsaber of the Inquisitor is usually red or violet.PartsA lightsaber, short lightsaber (shoto) or any other form of lightsaber requires 2 crystals. An exception to this is the double bladed lightsaber, which requires 4 crystals. The creator who channels their force into the crystals imbues it with a color based on the type of force energy being used as well as how powerful that energy is. Rare crystals can be found which will automatically determine a lightsaber's beam color.A lightsaber requires the following components (x2 for Double-Bladed);.

A handgrip. An activation stud plate. A safety switch. An emitter matrix. A lense assembly. Unique power cell (requires little to no recharging). Power conduit.

Recharge Socket (for recharging if required). Focus Crystal. Beam CrystalGallery.
